Litter picking at Golborne High School

‘GoaLCo’ pupils (The Golborne and Lowton Cooperative Trust) based at Golborne High School took part in the Great British Spring Clean last month.

Pupils armed with litter grabbers and big black bags took time out from their lessons to tackle a local ‘grot spot’. They were horrified to find a huge amount of litter there, which included a stolen black bin (full of rubbish) in the bushes. The children had a competition to see who could collect the most pieces of rubbish. Also, they spoke to a passer-by who praised them for taking action in the local fight against litter.

Thanks to their efforts the students won an Eco Schools competition, the prize for which was £250!
