Weston charity XTND organised the Weston-super-Mare Co-operative Education Trust’s Talent Show Final on behalf of the five Trust schools, which took place at the Playhouse in Weston.
‘Trust’s Got Talent’ featured the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 finalists who had been selected from each of the five Trust schools: Bournville, Oldmixon, Milton Park, Walliscote and Windwhistle Primary Schools. The standard was really high and it was obvious how much hard work everyone had put in to their act.
There was a wide variety of acts who had the opportunity to perform live on the stage. The audience were treated to a Shakespeare theatre piece, singing, gymnastics, dance and musical theatre.
On arrival, the theatre listened to a piano recital by Walliscote’s Tyler. During the interval, the Cantare Choir from Trust partner Sidcot School showcased their beautiful voices, accompanied by Acting Director of Music, Paul Woolley.
The Trust was delighted to have four special guest judges. Michelle Michael, Tim Ledbury, Gill Hull and the Reverend Tim Erridge had very difficult decisions to make as to who won each category.
They Key Stage 1 overall winner came from Oldmixon Primary School with a beautiful rendition of Somewhere over the Rainbow. The Key Stage 2 overall winner came from Milton Park Primary School, who performed a ‘Matilda’ musical theatre piece. Congratulations to both acts, who were presented with a beautiful glass trophy to proudly take back to their respective schools.
The whole show was compered by the brilliant Sue Odgers from the ‘Action 1st Foundation’ with a bit of extra help from presenters from each school who introduced their own schools’ acts.
The Trust would like to thank everyone who helped make the event such a huge success, including all the performers who made the finals and others who auditioned, the audience, Sue Odgers, Mark Thompson and the Technical Team at the Playhouse, XTND, Sidcot School, and of course, the fabulous judges.
